Inside Acting is a free weekly industry podcast for actors, by actors. Each episode of brings you tips and insights from Los Angeles-area casting directors, agents, producers, writers, actors, musicians, filmmakers, personal finance gurus, and more. Get insider information on marketing yourself, creating your own work, and booking the gig - straight from the people who've been there, done that, and are doing it again.
When should I expect new episodes?
We do our best to produce and release new content every week (Tuesday would be nice), but our release dates can vary. We believe in consistency, but producing each episode is a lot of (unpaid) work.
Who runs this thing?
The audio podcast was completely produced and hosted by Trevor Algatt and AJ Meijer. The video podcast is shot and cut by writer/director/awesome guy Alex Allrich.
How are you guys recording this?
For the audio podcast, we did all the recording, editing, and producing on a MacBook Pro running Logic Studio. We run 2 M-Audio Nova condenser microphones through a Behringer Eurorack UB802 mixer, then into an M-Audio Firewire Solo, monitoring everything through two sets of Sony headphones. The whole rig is/was fully portable, and we often travel to our guests for the interviews.
The video podcast uses a pair of Zoom H1n recorders with lav mics, and is shot on a Canon T2i (as well as the occasional iPhone or old FlipCam for alternate angles). Alex edits on Final Cut Pro X.

How do you find your guests?
Most of the guests on the show are people we either know, have met, worked with, or have heard through the grapevine are doing amazing stuff.
How do I know you guys aren't selling out? How can I trust your stuff is honest?
It's our policy to never accept sponsorship and/or feature a guest, product, teacher, class, service, or workshop with which we haven't had personal experience and/or would not personally recommend. We never accept products or financial compensation in exchange for an interview. Our integrity, and the integrity of this podcast, is our most important asset, and neither are for sale or ever will be.
What's your audience and circulation like?
While we're selective about sharing the hard numbers, we can tell you that Inside Acting is heard by several thousand listeners worldwide each week. Our Facebook community is currently closing in on 1,000 active members, and our website gets several thousand hits each month.
I'm interested in advertising a product or service on your webpage.
We'd love to talk to you. If it's acting-related, please note our "Integrity Policy" above, then drop us an e-mail at InsideActingPodcast at gmail dot com.
I'm interested in becoming a featured sponsor on the podcast.
We have several placement options available, and would love to talk to you. Again, please note our "Integrity Policy" above, and drop us an e-mail at InsideActingPodcast at gmail dot com anytime.
Is this podcast really free?
Yep. The podcast is and always will be 100% free to listen and subscribe to.
Why the free-ness of it? You could easily charge for this! And I might even pay!
We started this thing because we were hard up for cash and were sick of paying to simply see or talk to people who knew things we didn't. With roots like that, it'd be horrible form and even worse karma to turn around and start charging for the podcast.

Well... is it free for you guys to make?
We wish! We incur plenty of travel and production expenses, including gas, equipment costs, and file hosting fees - to name just a few - and we collectively invest somewhere in the ballpark of 20 hours a week producing each episode. This is far more than a hobby for us!
How can I help out?
Lots of ways! First, if you enjoy and get something useful of this little thing we're doing, please tell your friends! Word of mouth is the best advertising there is. You can also write us a great review in iTunes, Like us on Facebook, and review us on ActorRated. And, if you're feeling like a rockstar and want to give back a little (or a lot!), you can help keep the podcast going with some completely voluntary, cancel-at-any-time, tax-write-off-able financial support.
Donation, eh? Tell me more.
There are two ways to financially support the podcast. You can a) make a one-time donation in any amount, or b) "subscribe" and automatically contribute monthly at one of four levels: three, five, ten, or twenty dollars. We call this second group of supporters "patrons," and have a whole page on the site dedicated to showcasing who they are and what they're up to. We love them long time.
Patrons? I don't get it.
We like to think that what we provide for our listeners is very similar to what a coffee shop provides for their customers, or "patrons." In exchange for the occasional pastry, bagel, or cup of coffee or tea, the coffee shop provides a third space (one that's not home and not work) where their customers can hang out and socialize, study, eat, work, or just hang out. This mutual good will and understanding keeps the arrangement beneficial for both parties: the coffee shop gets to stay open, and the patrons get to keep going enjoying the space and goodies. Just think of how awkward - and short-lived - it'd be if people just hung out in the coffee shop all day... and didn't support it at all by purchasing something.
We hope that, if you truly learn, grow, and benefit from the work we're doing each with the podcast each episode, you'll consider supporting the podcast by becoming a "patron."
Sounds a little sketch, dudes. Is it safe?
All donations are 100% secure and processed online through PayPal. Your tax-deductible gift helps us cover production costs and helps us keep improving the podcast. No amount is too small. We'll give you a shout out on the show and send you a personalized thank you note (if you provide a mailing address with your donation). Make sure to hang on to that e-mail receipt too, because you can write the donation off as an education expense. Win-win-win! (#winning)
How can I get in touch with you guys?
