EPISODE 097: BILLY DAMOTA (PART 1)

Trev & AJ kick off Episode 097 with some announcements, and a recap of (yet another) one of AJ's pilot meetings — and the Jedi-like mindset that's getting him results. Then they share their thoughts on starting an IAP-like podcast, share some listener feedback about the Seattle market, respond to a listener question about the role age plays in a budding career, and then finally chat about being pigeonholed by peers and co-workers... or is it us who pigeonhole ourselves?

Then they sit down with casting director Billy DaMota for Part 1 of their chat on paying for casting director workshops. Warning: this may change the way you view pay-to-play CD meetings. Total running time: 1:16:42.

  1. Thanks, guys. That was fun!

Just wanted to make sure that you understand that I don't blame actors for having to pay to meet CDs, but I think they can help make a difference - if they want to. It's really more a matter of reeling in the abuse from CDs and the workshops and the way they capitalize on the neediness of actors in Los Angeles. There MUST be a place where actors and CDs can meet without the exchange of cash. I think the SAG Foundation is a terrific model, and actors should aim more toward that as a goal.
